Roy Sheppard

Executive Online Producer, Consultant, Tech-Savvy Virtual Emcee, Presenter & Interviewer

A former network BBC TV reporter and Radio 4 presenter, Roy is a specialist international conference facilitator, moderator and video interviewer. For small, intimate meetings, he has chaired countless in-depth, high-level medical advisory board meetings for healthcare associations and industry. Indeed, he has also facilitated and spoken at many ICCA annual congresses. 

Roy is probably best known for his energy, depth of knowledge, insights and humour whilst MCing large-scale medical congresses with up to 7,000 delegates, when he is often asked to lecture on a variety of non-medical topics to audiences of up to 500. And as a producer and interviewer, with his extensive BBC background, he has pioneered new formats for live online TV shows, running alongside face-to-face congresses. 

He is the author of many books, including the eBook “How to be LOVED: from dating to mating".

David B. Vodušek, MD, PhD, FEAN

Chair of the Permanent Experts Committee on CME, BioMedical Alliance

David B. Vodušek received his MD (1976 and PhD (1989) from University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.  Board certifified in1982 he was appointed full Professor at the University of Ljubljana in 1997. Emerited in 2018 he continues as consultant in Neurology. His research interests include uro-neurology and clin. neurophysiology; he has authored more than 150 articles in peer reviewed journals, and coedited the 130th volume of the Handbook of Clinical Neurology series (Neurology of Sexual and Bladder Disorders).

Prof. Vodušek is a member of the Slovene Medical Academy, the Slovene and German Neurological Ass, the British Ass. of Clinical Neurophysiology, the European Academy of Neurology (FEAN) and the Eur. Federation of Autonomic Societies. Dr. Vodušek serves as Chair of the EAN International Liaison Group and Chair of the BioMed Permanent Experts Committee on CME; he is on the Editorial Boards of Neurourology and Urodynamics and JECME.



Dr Eva Hofstädter-Thalmann, PhD

External Scientific Relations Oncology, Janssen

Chair, Medical Education Working Group, EFPIA

Eva Hofstädter-Thalmann is External Scientific Relations Lead for Oncology at Janssen Medical Affairs Europe, Middle East and Africa. Throughout her carrier she was working in Hematology/Oncology, Immunology, Nephrology and Virology. Her focus is on strong strategic collaborations to major Oncology societies, top experts and publishers. Her other focus is on strategic quality aspects for Janssen in education over all disease areas

Eva is member of several external strategic groups such as President-Elect for GAME, board member of JECME, Chair of the EFPIA Medical Education Working Group, and co-chair of the ESMO/Industry Working Group. Eva Thalmann obtained a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Vienna. She had various positions in Medical Affairs and Strategic Marketing for Janssen-Cilag and Johnson & Johnson within Europe and US. 



Christian-Claus Roth

Co-President, International Pharmaceutical Congress Advisory Association (IPCAA)

Christian-Claus Roth has been employed at Novartis Pharma since 2001, in different roles of increasing responsibility. After his studies in Business Administration he started his career with the International Pharmaceutical wholesaler GEHE Pharma Handel GmbH and later Celesio AG, in Germany.

From there he moved to the Novartis Pharma affiliate in Bern, Switzerland, where he set up the congress and event department for the Swiss market, shortly later being promoted to the Global Headquarter in Basel with responsibility for the Pain and Urology Areas as International Congress Manager, with additional responsibility later for the Bone area.

Christian now oversees the Scientific Engagement Governance focusing on the impact of external regulatory requirements on global medical event management – one of several key areas for which the team is responsible. Additionally, he regularly participates as a panel member and speaker at conferences. In July 2017 Christian was honoured by "Successful Meetings" as one of the most influential strategists in the meetings industry worldwide.

Suzanne Murray

Suzanne Murray’s professional career spans over 30 years in organisational development, management, healthcare research, education and performance improvement. 

As the CEO and Founder of AXDEV Group Inc. since 1997, Suzanne has supported organizations, companies and governments in Canada, United States, Europe and Asia. Prior to AXDEV, she spent 18 years at McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine, Centre for Studies in Aging, and the Montreal General Hospital. Catherine Kalamidas

Catherine Kalamidas has been active in the international events industry for more than 20 years, initially developing & organizing high level congresses in the maritime industry, and later serving as Director of Operations for an international PCO, leading the activities of the European Space Agency Conference Bureau. 

Catherine is on the Education Committee of the ICCA France Benelux Chapter and a member of the Meetings Industry Steering Group of City Destinations Alliance. Catherine joined the Rotterdam Partners CVB in 2016 and has since collaborated with Rotterdam’s triple helix of government, industry and academia to strategically acquire international congresses which align with the future ambitions of the city and its institutes.     


Christophe Jauquet

Christophe Jauquet is an internationally recognised author & keynote speaker. Before starting his own business, Christophe held various roles as an intrapreneur at Pfizer Inc., for which he has been recognised with several global innovation awards.

Ben Hainsworth

Managing Director - European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL)

Ben has spent almost 30 years in the international not-for-profit sector with an emphasis on the management of professional medical associations.  A visionary and entrepreneurial business leader focussed on the concept and implementation of strategies that inspire stakeholders to achieve desired goals.  He has a keen understanding of the association business model, especially in business administration, relationship-building, community management, board governance, and organizational growth.

Ben is the Managing Director of EASL, the European Association for the Study of the Liver. This leading international society has over 4,000 members from all continents, and the annual meeting remains the major international scientific event for the liver with over 10,000 participants. EASL also runs a comprehensive portfolio of smaller educational meetings, a broad collection of online education and an array of digital tools. EASL is also active in public health, patient engagement and policy, a trusted and expert advisor to European and national health authorities. 

Prior to this, Ben founded K.I.T.GmbH's Association Management Division in Berlin, Germany. Managing numerous associations such as International Liver Transplantation Society, International Union of Immunology Societies, International Society for Pediatric & Adolescent Diabetes, European Operating Room Nurses Association and the World Forum on Rheumatic & Musculoskeletal Diseases. 

Until 2014 Ben was responsible for the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Congresses portfolio, this included Europe’s largest medical conference (30,000 delegates) and 8 specialty events. In parallel he enhanced the physical events offering with digital and partnership networks such as the ESC 365 online digital platform and the ESC Global Scientific Activities international outreach program. 


Prof Dr Lukas Zenk

Founder, The Lightbox Network Deputy Head for Research, Danube University Krems

Lukas is the founder of The Lightbox Network that includes various experts from science and practice to innovate and consult organizations. 

He works as an Associate Professor for Innovation and Network Research and is Deputy Head for Research at the Department of Knowledge and Communication Management, Danube University Krems. In his applied research projects, he investigates how people collaboratively solve complex problems and how creative and innovative processes can be supported.​

He co-created the method Designing.Events, the web-based tool Collective Pictures, co-founded the improvisational theater company Quintessenz in Vienna and was a member of the executive board of the worldwide Applied Improvisation Network. He lectures at various universities, consults companies and gives keynote presentations. His innovative lectures, talks, and research projects in Networks, Innovation and Improvisation have earned him several awards.


Svya Palayan 

EHRA (European Heart Rhythm Association) Manager - European Society of Cardiology (ESC)

Svya Palayan has a master degree in Association Management and has been the EHRA (European Heart Rhythm Association) Manager at the ESC (European Society of Cardiology), since 2008. She has also a communication background and joined the ESC in 2003 as Coordinator international stand and promotion. At present, together with the EHRA volunteers she manages, coordinates & drives specifically related Association projects/activities/initiatives and implement board strategies.                             

She also ensures that the directives established by the Board of the EHRA are compliant with the guidelines of the ESC”.



Stephanie Deambrosis
