VISITING LUXEMBOURG


Nationals of an EU country or one of the Schengen Area associated countries are free to enter the European Union, irrespective of the purpose of their stay and not only to return to their home. These people do not need to produce a negative test before entering the Grand Duchy.

Nationals of the United Kingdom, San Marino, Andorra, Monaco and the Vatican/Holy See are also free to enter the European Union, irrespective of the purpose of their stay and not only to return to their home. These people do not need to produce a negative test before entering the Grand Duchy either.

Third-country nationals may no longer enter the territory of the Grand Duchy until 31 December 2020 (inclusive). Exempt of this rule are persons (see FAQ) and nationals from the following third-countries:

  • Australia,
  • Canada,
  • China (subject to reciprocity at European Union level),
  • Georgia,
  • Japan,
  • New Zealand,
  • Ruanda,
  • South Korea,
  • Thailand,
  • Tunisia and
  • Uruguay.

Please note that for some of these exceptions, an obligation to present a negative test before entering Luxembourg applies.

TRAIN & ROAD


 

If you’re travelling by car, Luxembourg is at the nexus of several major motorways that puts it within two or three hours of Frankfurt, Cologne, and Brussels. In the city, it’s easy to get around by taxi, bus, or with the sleek new tram which will soon connect all the major points. As it’s both safe and has a great pedestrian infrastructure like wide sidewalks and dedicated walking paths, Luxembourg is ideal for navigating by foot.
