COVID-19 REGULATIONS

The COVID-19 outbreak has created serious challenges for the business events sector in Europe and across the world. We’re proud to say that the Luxembourg Convention Bureau (LCB) and its 144 official partners have led the way in recovery efforts. The Grand Duchy has adopted new, comprehensive measures to ensure we remain one of the top business events destinations in Europe while protecting the health of each visitor.

Some of the many strong measures Luxembourg has taken:

  • Large scale COVID-19 testing
  • Generous public assistance to support the business events sector
  • Large-scale revamping of the hotel, restaurant, and cafe (HORESCA) industry
  • Stringent oversight from relevant government ministries and agencies
  •  A new ‘sanitation label’ awarded to businesses that meet strict health and safety criteria
  • Support from Luxembourg workers and residents, who during this period have demonstrated great resilience, cooperation, and unity
  • Innovation within the business events sector to adopt distancing elements such as virtual trade shows, online meetings, and video conferences

Over the years, Luxembourg has grown into a top business events destination thanks in large part to our openness, efficiency, and place at the forefront of innovation in a number of sectors. We will do everything we can to ensure not only the success of your event, but also to guarantee the comfort, wellbeing, and safety of everyone involved.

VISA INFORMATION

Nationals from 91 countries can visit Luxembourg without a visa, including all the EU countries and to see the full list please visit: https://maee.gouvernement.lu/dam-assets/services-aux-citoyens/visa-et-immigration/list-of-countries-whose-citizens-are-exempted-from-the-visa-requirement.pdf

Nationals from certain non-EU countries who wish to visit, transit through or work in Luxembourg must, before their departure, have a valid travel document with a visa issued by a consular authority from one of the countries in the Schengen area.

The visa enables free movement in the Schengen area: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and Switzerland.

The nationality of the non-EU national determines whether or not he is obliged to have a visa. Different types of visa exist depending on the duration and nature of the visit.

The Schengen visa must be requested at the consulate of the country the applicant intends to visit, or, if he intends to visit more than one Schengen State, at the consulate of the country of his primary destination (i.e. main purpose of stay or longest stay). If the applicant intends to visit several Schengen states for a stay of equal duration, the visa application must be sent to the consulate of the country whose external borders the applicant will cross first when entering the Schengen area.

As a general rule, the visa application must be submitted in the country in which the applicant legally resides, at a Luxembourg consulate or a diplomatic mission representing Luxembourg. Should there be no Luxembourg consulate in that country and should Luxembourg not be represented there, the application must be submitted at the consulate with territorial competence for visa applications.
