Workshop

The Future of DEI: Using AI to Create More Inclusive Events

The success of young meeting professionals in today’s rapidly evolving events industry depends on mastering both technical and soft skills. ICCA is committed to supporting the ongoing education of industry professionals by connecting these skillsets in meaningful ways.

In this workshop, we aim to explore the transformative shift toward integrating AI and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) within the event industry. By thinking about AI and DEI as interconnected, we can unlock the immense potential of this combination to foster more inclusive and accessible events, ensuring that both technology and inclusion work hand in hand to create impactful experiences.

Workshop Objectives

This dynamic workshop is designed for meeting professionals who are looking to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategies for event planning.

This session delves into how AI intersects with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). The session is designed to be interactive and insightful. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how data and AI are not inherently neutral and why technology alone isn’t a sufficient solution to DEI challenges, as well as solutions that can be applied to real-world challenges within organisations.

Additionally, a DEI expert will guide the group through exercises on creating a safe and accepting space in events, emphasising the importance of inclusive environments at conferences, meetings, and congresses.

After the Workshop you will:

  • Understand why it's important to upskill on both AI and DEI and how this can ensure a diverse group of speakers, panelists, and performers at your events and congresses
  • Understand how to create more Inclusive Accessible Events (DEI) which AI tools can help you
  • Have a broader network of professionals both from both associations and meeting professionals

Post-Workshop Resources:

Participants will receive:

  • A toolkit with AI resources and DEI strategies.
  • Access to event-planning templates for creating safe, inclusive spaces.
  • A list of recommended AI tools for event management.
